Why morning time?
The mind is more pliable in the early hours of waking. More apt to hear the spirit of dreams where imagination and grounding co-exist; where noise is gently parted for the still voice of the Self that is instilled in each of us as a Beloved child of God.

Hauntings and Healings
I suppose I’ll go ahead and write about the fire that is in front of me; standing so close that my clothes nearly ignite. They are the only protection I have – hope bricked by these flimsy, combustible threads.
Yes, again, I am facing grief. Continue reading Hauntings and Healings
Rockport
A few moments on the balcony looking out to the edge of sky and water. Water and earth.
Bob is fishing off the bank and has signaled that he already has snagged two good sized trout.
Settling back into my water-scape view, tears swell as naturally as the persistent, gentle lapping of waves against the concrete bulkhead.
These are the good days.
In hindsight we’ll see more of the incredible gift of these easy times, even as we know in these moments their delicate joys.
Meditation changes me.
The next several posts will be summaries from my recent meditation series. By the grace of God, as well as readings from the ages and inspirations of friends, I am meditating again and remembering that mediation changes me. Meditation changes my world.
I hope a part of these can serve as points of connection for you too, either in identifying with the struggle to be still or celebrating the uncomplicated companionship of God’s loving presence in our lives. And I preface all with these wise words from a new, old hero of mine.
“But it must always be remembered that there have been countless souls to whom the words “meditation” and “contemplation” have no meaning at all, and yet these souls have found God. There are a thousand ways to him.”–Jean-Pierre de Caussade
Fit to Sit

From an older, treasured book I have rediscovered teachings from Richard J Foster in Celebration of Discipline; in particular his chapter The Discipline of Meditation. These two passages lift and encourage me to remember that I don’t have to do this alone or rely upon my own flimsy will-power. Continue reading Fit to Sit
Stop thinking, talking, doing, writing and sit.
I’ve been thinking alot about meditation lately. And noticing that I’ve been doing more thinking than meditating.
Yes, I have my quiet time – alone with God, and my books, my journals. My cat. And, thankfully I have my weekly twenty minutes with others of like mind. But somewhere along the way, I’ve fallen away from going to the truly quiet recesses with God, in silence, daily. Continue reading Stop thinking, talking, doing, writing and sit.
To See, to Do, to Be.
“When we genuinely believe that inner transformation is God’s work and not ours, we can put to rest our passion to set others straight.” – Celebration of Discipline by Richard J Foster.
Yep, it’s an inside job. And I can get there by prayer and meditation if I truly want to make a difference. In me. In my responses to the tragedies and sadnesses that are around us. And step into what God might want me to see, and do, and be in the name of Love.
